Kogar was a gorilla character played by costumed actor Bob Burns III who was set to become a new character on The Munsters before the show's untimely cancellation.
Production history[]
Bob Burns as Kogar was regularly used in many films and TV shows throughout the 60s, 70s, 80s and beyond, most notably in the 1975 TV series "The Ghost Busters" by Filmation where "Kogar" played Tracy the Gorilla.
Burns as Kogar would've become a new addition to the Munster family as Eddie Munster's new pet gorilla in a possible third season in an attempt by the producers to boost the show's ratings which were declining with the arrival of the Batman TV series in 1966. Butch Patrick and Bob Burns would do a live appearance at a venue together as Eddie and Kogar in attempt to showcase the new character as well as to boost interest. During the live appearance, Kogar wore a dog collar with a chain leash which Eddie would pull him by, and the two would visit a large shopping mall in Phoenix, Arizona to sign autographs. While the live venue and promotions drew positive press and reception, it was not enough to boost the show's ratings past Batman's, and so CBS cancelled The Munsters, resulting in Kogar never becoming part of The Munsters franchise.
